Federal Dead circa 1977
silver gelatin prints, mat board and text
38.25 x 28"
1977

At the age of 12, pictures myself playing American Civil War, 'Federal Dead'. Detailed out with Union 'Kepi', Navy Cap and Ball 0.36 revolver, bedroll and other details. My friend, C.K. used my camera at my direction to photograph me... At some point my friends at the time started seeing my war obsessed activities as weird. One-on-one they played along but when others were around there would be some mocking and fun making to my face. I learned then to move on, despising the town I grew up in.

Perhaps I still have the negatives and the prints are printed on the thinnest of papers. A two window, archival eight-ply matt has text applied at the bottom.
